Our story

We Built the Site We Wish Had Existed

Growing Wealth started because we kept running into the same problem: the financial advice available to Canadian families was either too complicated, too American, or quietly working against us.

We’re a Canadian family — parents, researchers, and people who have made real financial decisions with real money and real consequences. We’ve sat at the kitchen table trying to figure out whether to open a TFSA or an RRSP first. We’ve compared credit cards and wondered who these rewards programs were actually designed to benefit. We’ve asked “how much house can we actually afford?” and found that most answers were designed to sell us something.

What we couldn’t find was a site that was clearly, unambiguously on our side. No bank funding. No advertiser agendas. No recycled American advice repackaged for Canada. Just honest, specific, plain-language answers to the questions Canadian families are actually asking.

So we built it.

Growing Wealth exists to give every Canadian family the clear, honest answers we wish we’d had — before we made the expensive mistakes, not after.

What We Actually Believe

A lot of personal finance advice is just common sense dressed up in jargon. We try to skip the jargon. Here’s where we actually stand:

Most families are one good decision away from a better financial position. It’s rarely about earning more. It’s about knowing which account to open, which card to use, and where your next dollar should go.
The Canadian financial system has more free money in it than most people realize. CESG grants for RESPs. FHSA tax deductions. RRSP refunds. Most families leave thousands on the table every year because nobody told them it was there.
Unbiased advice is rare and worth protecting. We use referral links when we recommend products — we’ll always tell you when we do. But we will never recommend something we wouldn’t use ourselves, and we will never let a commission change our honest assessment.
You don’t need a financial advisor to make good decisions. You need clear information, honest comparisons, and a framework that fits your actual life — not a theoretical household with perfect spending habits.
Generic advice is almost always wrong for someone. That’s why we build tools that ask about your situation before giving you an answer.

Who This Site Is For

Growing Wealth is for Canadian families who are past the “I should probably figure out my finances someday” stage and into the “I’m actually trying to do this right” stage. People who have some income, some goals, and not enough time to become experts in everything.

If you’re looking for stock tips, cryptocurrency speculation, or get-rich-quick strategies — this isn’t the right place. We write about the fundamentals that compound over decades: the right accounts, the right habits, the right sequence of decisions.

If you’re a Canadian family trying to do right by your kids, your future, and your finances — you’re in exactly the right place.

A Note on How We Make Money

Growing Wealth is independently operated. We earn revenue through referral links — when you open an account through one of our links, we may receive a commission at no cost to you. We will always disclose when a link is a referral link.

We do not accept payment to feature or positively review any product. Every recommendation on this site reflects our honest assessment. If we wouldn’t recommend it to a family member, we won’t recommend it here.
